Wilhem Deetjeu

  General Notes:

The Deetjeu family originated in Holland. It seems that one branch of the family came to Haiti via Strasbourg, father of Raul Deetjen; another Deetjeu, Wilhem came also to Cap-Hatien. The two seem to have been related but how is not yet known. We know that Wilhem and Raoul Lived in Cap-Hatien. The name became Deetjen in Haiti, the name is often pronounced Dékéen, with the stress on 'Keen'. My (Louise Gilg) grandmother always said Deet'jen.
